BIOGRAPHY

Julia Vering is a performance artist, musician, animator, and hospice expressive arts therapist. Vering’s work often includes collaborations with older adults, people with dementia and residents of nursing facilities.

  • Received a 2020 stipend from Charlotte Street Foundation “Art Where You’re At” to perform Re-Enactments for socially distant audiences at nursing facilities and in a parking lot for collaborators and their families.
  • Received a 2019 stipend from Charlotte Street Foundation to present Mirror Me, Mirrored You, a duo of two solo performances by myself and Anna Azizzy.  I created and performed The Understudy III, a 2 channel video performance at Capsule.
  • Received a 2011 Charlotte Street Foundation Rocket Grant to produce “You Live Here Too”
  • Nominated for MARGO award for excellence in field education at the University of Kansas 
  • Nominated student leader of Partnership for Productive Aging in Education Program at the University of Kansas
  • Awarded stipend for participation in the Partnership for Productive Aging in Education Program
  • Awarded Mildred Web Sigler Memorial Scholarship at the University of Kansas
  • Awarded Monte Murphy Fellowship at the University of Kansas
